Emma in Haiti

Are we proud of Emma Batchelder!! Soon after the Haitian earthquake, she and a surgical team from Dartmouth Medical Center were on a Partners In Health jet loaded with supplies. After arriving in the Dominican Republic, they and their gear went overland to Port-au- Prince, where they spent nearly two weeks serving the disaster victims. Emma is a post-op and critical care nurse. She and her fellow nurses had to improvise due to lack of the equipment they are used to, as well as making decisions and performing procedures that they might not do in a stateside setting. She will remain forever touched by the faith, resilience and gratitude of the Haitian people in the face of such excruciating horror. Thank you Emma for representing us and thank you for those who kept watch on the New Hampshire farm, allowing Emma to go: Lisa, Teresa and Jason.

A 16.2 dark bay beauty by Glorieux, she had several foals for the University of Massachusetts, including some great foals by Werbellin. We are excited to welcome Fifi back to River House, where she will have a 2010 Werbellin foal and be bred back to Bretone.

With numerous high score and year end awards at I1, they went on to Grand Prix and completed Nora’s USDF Gold Medal. Rue was sold to and ridden very successfully by an adult amateur to her bronze medal and good fourth level scores, Rue recently retired to our brood mare band. And now she has a Bretone foal – are we excited?!! Rue Facile loved to compete, has outstanding looks and excellent gaits. FEI prospect! Barcelona RH (AKA Banana) is a sweet and kind, 2007 Hanoverian gelding by Bretone – our elite grand prix stallion – out of SPS Weltfee II (Weltmeyer). With the quintessential dressage horse pedigree of Brentano II and Weltmeyer, Barcelona is everything the aspiring dressage professional or amateur needs. He is a handsome chestnut standing 16.3 H. Barcelona has three lovely gaits and is incredibly willing and trainable. Don’t let his young age deter you! His temperament is fabulous! ANYONE can ride him.  He is a trooper on the trail, leading the older horses through the water,  and he walks around the show grounds – passed spectators, vendors, and golf carts – on a long rein. He showed training and first level in Florida and was shown in the USEF 4 y.o. tests in New England. He won every USEF 4 y.o. qualifier he entered – with scores to 78% and very positive feedback about his rideability and gaits. Barcelona qualified to compete with the top 15 four year olds in the country at the Markel Young Horse Championships at Lamplight in Illinois. Barcelona was a perfect gentleman, taking all the activity, banners, and award ceremonies in stride. Barcelona is doing leg-yielding, shoulder-in, counter canter, simple changes, and starting walk pirouettes. 40K. Link to latest Youtube video:

His dam is one of our best producers for movement and he is no exception – he has looks, pedigree and talent.
