Verne:
Verne Batchelder approaches dressage instruction with an articulate, technical yet compassionate system. Verne transfers to his students the ability to be patient and persistent in their training with their horses. He is quick to provide his students with training exercises so they are less likely to take it personally when all does not go well. He is comfortable teaching riders of all ages and aspirations.
He along with his wife and two daughters operate River House Hanoverians with a farm in NH and another in Florida. In the last five years they have produced five horses that have competed at Grand Prix and three horses that have qualified for the FEI Young Horse Championships. They have imported over 200 Hanoverians from Germany and produced twice that amount domestically from their own mares and stallions. His student base includes a wide variety of riders from those motivated by showing to those who just enjoy the training process and choose not to show.
Jeanie:
Jeanie Hahn is an USDF bronze, silver and gold medalist as well as a certified instructor. She enjoys teaching lunge lessons and applying the functions of rider and horse positions to the execution of the work. Jeanie is a great facilitator of test riding and likes to coach at shows. She enjoys training horses at all levels, showing and bringing horses and riders up through the educational process. Jeanie starts many youngsters and enjoys horses of all ages and talents.
Emma:
Emma is an English and Drama graduate of Duke University, enjoys marathons, catering and working with youngsters. Although she has shown through fourth level and is proficient in riding all the movements, she enjoys jumpers. Emma is presently pursuing a nursing degree at Duke as well as schooling two four year olds for River House. Nora is a senior Chemistry and Art major at Amherst College.
Nora:
Nora is presently in her senior year at Amherst College, with a double major in chemistry and art. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and has earned numerous chemistry awards. She has ridden since childhood and loves to work with horses at all levels. She has trained and shown three horse at Grand Prix dressage. She finished in the top twelve at the north American Young Riders Championship and has competed twice in the Brentina Cup, a competition at I-2 for qualified riders under twenty six. Nora has qualified two horses for the FEI five and six year old championships. When her schedule allows, she helps train young horses for River House. She has Bretone and Amanta at school this year.
