ES BRETONE AND NORA BATCHELDER
2007 was as exciting as anticipated for Nora and Bretone. They again qualified early for the Brentina Cup going directly from Amherst finals (congratulations Phi Beta Kappa and first in class!!) to the first show. We had a wonderful time at Gladstone, renewing friendships and learning a lot. It was impressive to see how much the juniors and young riders have improved since the advent of these programs. Nora and Karen Robertson had collaberated to create an amazing Grand Prix free style for Tony. The music is Cirque du Soliel and it fits them perfectly! The ride is difficult with room to make it even harder as they gain experience. GMHA was the first time to show it.They received a 68.6% and won the G.P. class. Nora had been invited to showcase it again the day after the show for Chef’s night, a fundraiser for GMHA featuring amazing area cuisine, wines, cheese, etc. and dressage free styles. Tony was very tired but tried his hardest and we all had a super time.Earlier in the season Tony had received a win and an I-2 score of 67% at Saratoga well as placing second in the Grand Prix stakes at King Oak. We couldn’t be more pleased with his second U.S. crop of foals:type, temperament, movement. Thay are great!
What an experience! Thank-you Tony! Then it was on to Grand Prix. Quite a step forward from last season! Bretone had to learn one tempis and passage over the winter, but his amazing temperament end work ethic, coupled with Nora’s expertise made the leap possible. Tony won the Grand Prix Stakes at KIng Oak. The pair gained valuable experience over the season, having several other good placings and wins. Tony has gained strength and added smoothness and we are very eager for the 2007 season. His first U.S. crop of foals are very exciting.
