River House only took three horses to this year’s GMHA Dressage Days, but all three were stars!

Nora took two young horses to the show: the lovely, 8 y.o. Bahai and the sweet, 5 y.o. Barcelona RH. Bahai (Baroncelli/Rotspon) was a superstar in just her second weekend ever of FEI competition. On Friday, she put in a clean and smooth Prix St. Georges test to place second in a large class with a 67.105%. On Saturday she came back to win the Prix St. Georges with an impressive 69.500%. While both judges placed her first, one judge was particularly impressed with her – scoring her at 72.105%! She gave Bahai SIXTEEN “7.5″s as well as one “8″ and one “9″ with the comment “Nice energy and communication. Fun to watch.” The other judge had equally positive comments … “Promising horse! Having a nice moment!” The 69.500% was enough to give Bahai the Reserve FEI High Score of the day! On Sunday, Bahai had to do the Developing Prix St. Georges at the very end of the day. She was literally the last horse out there, but she dealt with her fear of being the last horse on the planet and brought home another blue ribbon with a perfectly respectable 66.103%.

Barcelona RH (Bretone/Weltmeyer) made his debut at second level with fabulous results. He won both of his big, second level classes! He was a perfect gentleman, taking everything in stride, despite the fact that he hadn’t been to a show since the National Young Horse Championships last August. Barcelona RH brought home an awesome 70. 286% on Saturday. He received an “8″ and “8.5″ for his medium and free walk, respectively, and a “7.5″ and “8″ on his two medium trots. In the Collective Marks, his gaits earned him another “8″ and the comment “Lovely young horse”! Good boy Banana!

Amy Bresky, one of Verne’s star students, and her own Welkin (by the Weltmeyer stallion Weltruhm) had a dynamite show! On Friday, Amy and Welkin put in a solid test, earning several “8″s and a win in the Adult Amateur Intermediare I. On Saturday, they looked elegant and polished as they danced to their new Intermediare freestyle music. Then on Sunday, they put in a great test to take the win in the AA Intermediare I and earn the AA FEI High Score Award for the entire show. Welkers has a beautiful new cooler to show for his stellar efforts!

Kathy Feehery, another one of Verne’s star students, and her Rosalie (Rotspon/Brentano II) did a great job at Third and Fourth Level. They earned second place in their AA Fourth Level test 1 on Friday and are now qualified for the Regional Championships at Third Level.

Gilberto Gonzalez, working student extraordinaire, piloted the ever-fabulous Weide (Weltmeyer/Werther) to take home the AA win in his second Fourth Level test ever on Friday! This pair also earned their second qualifying score for Regionals at Third Level. In Gilberto’s first ever ride at Fourth Level test 3, they earned an “8″ on the difficult halt-reinback-canter move. Great job GG & Sweetie!
