2013 has been a great year, and a well-traveled year, for Bahai and Nora. The good news started with a training grant from the New England Dressage Association to pursue High Performance Grand Prix. Bahai and Nora’s show ring success for the year started with multiple wins in Wellington and north Florida in the Developing Horse Prix St Georges, as well as a promising Intermediare I debut.. Their undefeated run in the Developing Horse Prix St Georges qualifiers earned them an invitation to the Markel Developing Horse National Championships in Lamplight, IL. They also received an invitation to the Developing Dressage Training Session¬†with Debbie MacDonald at Hassler Dressage. This training session was a wonderful opportunity to learn from one of our nation’s very best trainers and competitors. After the training session in Maryland it was back down to Florida for a few weeks and then up to Illinois. Nora was thrilled to get to work with Debbie several more times at the Developing Horse National Championships and delighted when Bahai finished sixth overall. Their performance at these championships as well as in the training session with Debbie McDonald lead to a Developing Dressage Training Grant from the USEF High Performance Committee to pursue Developing and CDI Grand Prix. From Illinois, it was back to Florida to regroup before heading to Georgia for the USDF Great American Insurance Group Region 3 Championships held at the sight of the 1996 Olympic Games. Bahai and Nora had a stellar ride in the Open Prix St. Georges, taking home the Championship with a 71.908% and earning the highest PSG qualifying score in the nation for the inaugural US Dressage Finals. They had a good enough Intermediare I Championship ride, just Bahai’s third time at the level, to earn a Wild Card spot for the Finals. So, it was back to Florida for a few more weeks and then onto Kentucky for the US Dressage Finals. Although the Finals was not Bahai’s best show, being part of the inaugural competition and competing in the spectacular Alltech Arena was well worth the trip. Now, In December, Nora and Bahai have been using some of their grant money to prepare for the Developing Grand Prix for next year. They’ve been shipping down to White Fences to work with Shelly Francis and get a leg-up for next year! Check out the journey in the photos below!
