On Sunday, July 15th, River House Hanoverians hosted its 25th annual American Hanoverian Society Inspection. The Inspection itself was a great success, but with great food, fabulous people, and a LASER light show, it was hard not to see the Saturday night party as the main event! Our usual caterer, the infamous Emma Batchelder, was otherwise engaged at a CRNA board review coarse in North Carolina, but she was kind enough to come up the week before the Inspection to fill the freezer with her culinary creations. Jeanie and her sister Teresa, with much appreciated assistance from friend Susan Kennedy, also cooked up a storm on Friday and Saturday morning in preparation. The party was very well attended and the food and beverages seemed to be well appreciated. The two wheels of baked brie – a sweet and a savory – were a highlight. Susan and Nora spent most of the party in the kitchen, turning out platters of seafood bites, sausage rolls, artichoke cups, spanakopita, and much more. Sally Seaver brought a delicious, bakery-fresh chocolate and raspberry cake decorated to commemorate River House’s 25 years of hosting. Check it out in the photos below. After the wine and food, the festivities really got going with Rick Feehery’s impressive and entertaining LASER light show in the indoor arena. People really enjoyed it, some were even brave enough to boogie! Rick built the LASER himself and used it to animate/illustrate a very eclectic selection of music – including Queen’s We Are The Champions, Infected Mushroom’s Pink Nightmares, and Adam Levine’s Moves Like Jagger. Again, please enjoy the photos below.

Despite the rocking party on Saturday night, everyone managed to make it to the actual Inspection bright and early Sunday morning. Everything ran smoothly and people seemed satisfied with the results. Penny Loschiavo was happy that her lovely big girl, Roccadera (Rascalino/Donnerschall), successfully navigated the free jumping chute and the undersaddle test (under the expert guidance of Deb Dean Smith) to reach Elite Mare Candidate status. Jennifer Davis’ Royal Ruby (Royal Prince/Wallstreet Kid) trotted away with the top Main Studbook Mare Inspection ribbon. Eliza Rutherford came with a slew of foals and walked away with the top colt nod for her Blue Hors Romanov/Stedinger foal. River House’s two Bretone fillies were adorable show offs. The judges had high praise for Burberry RH (Bretone/Glorieux), saying that “you couldn’t have a better head and neck confirmation” and showed a nice uphill tendency in her movement. Bellatrix RH (Bretone/Weltmeyer) also received very positive feedback about her “harmonious movement” “lovely top-line” and head¬† – receiving an overall “8″ on her confirmation. Moriarty RH (Maronjo/Bretone) was similarly well-received, warranting comments about his “nice type” and “good shoulder”.

Thank you to everyone – for coming to our party and bringing your nice horses!
