Description & Pedigree Information

The following information was taken from the “Deckstation Brunkhorst” brochure and the “St. George” magazine…

In type, Bretone is like a stallion out of a “picture book” – a striking countenance, much neck, beautiful topline, correct feet and legs, above average in walk, trot and canter (outstanding gaits), exceptional rideability.

On Bretone’s pedigree – Brentano II, his sire, was named stallion of the Year by the German Hanoverian Verband. Brentano II’s sire, Bolero, has become known as a symbol for the modern riding horse. The Bolero line continues to dominate the International Dressage Arenas. From the motherline of Brentano II comes some of the most famous “good old boys” of the Hanoverian breed. Grande, Ferdinand, Marcio XX and Duellant. Brentano II has sired Brentina – America’s top Olympic and World Cup Freestyle star with Debbie McDonald, and Barclay – Olympic competitor for Holland with Sven Rothenberger. Brentano II is also the sire of the dam of “Poetin” one of todays most expensive (over $2 million) dressage stars.
Being firm believers in motherlines it is not surprising to see the depth of Bretone’s. His grandmother is a full sister to “Woyzek” – who with Harry Boldt earned Gold in the ‘76 Olympics. Two other GP horses – Karajan with Boldt and “Adonis” with Christine Stuckelberger plus other performance horses have come from this line. His mother produced seven foals, two licensed stallions, one Verden auction horse, two successful dressage horses.
